Full-moon Festival falls on August 15th of the Lunar Calendar. Nobody knows exactly when the festival started in Vietnam, but it has been a chance both to say thanks to the Creator for good crops and for children to enjoy the beautiful full-moon and parade lanterns, and say thanks to ancestors. When the moon is full, it is time to worship the God of the Moon. There are different kinds of fruits and cakes on the altar, which must always includes moon cake, also called "cake of reunion". This is traditionally a time when the whole family unite together eating moon cakes and enjoy the full-moon as well as share loving time. This is the time when children have happy time playing games and parading lanterns of different types, colors and sizes in the moon light. The Full-moon Festival in Viet Anh School this year is helped organize by older students from grades 8 to 12 and teachers. Different interesting activities and music and dancing performances are performed.
